With just over a month since the launch of Sleek MakeUP's Be Beautiful Blemish Balm - I'm still feeling overjoyed at the fact that there is finally a BB Cream available on the highstreet catering to deeper skin tones. I mainly purchased this product to reduce the time spend on my morning make-up routine. The product comes in 4 shades: Fair, Light, Medium and Dark which can offer multi-functional uses as moisturising, priming and concealing bases.
"This
multi-tasking wonder balm can be used as a primer, tinted moisturiser
or concealer. Build to provide medium to full coverage. Loaded with skin
loving multi-vitamins, anti ageing properties and protein peptides that
revitalises and nourishes and aids in skin repair. Vitamin C adds an
extra boost to the skin for a healthy, glowing complexion, whilst the
presence of Vitamin E protects the skin from early stages of UV damage,
leaving skin youthful and luminous. Skin stays protected with SPF15,
whilst jojoba oil soothes and moisturises for a flawless finish.
Available in 4 shades to suit all skin tones".
I've got to say that being a fan of highstreet make-up has its highs and lows especially when it comes to colour matching. Most highstreet stores selling make-up don't have any advisers available to offer more product information or to assist with the sometimes confusing swatching process. There are many a times when I consider going to professionals but when you compare the significant price difference between highstreet and high end beauty products - the gamble's worth it! Remember, your beauty needs are unique and like no others so don't be afraid to take your time getting to know what you need, what you like and most importantly what works for you.
Having what I like to call a patchy, patchy complexion means it's always tricky to find the right colour match but I decided to opt for the medium shade which swatches much closer to the majority of my face. I still have some worries about a slight ashy finish especially with fuller coverage but I find that the severity also depends on the choice of setting powder. The colour match tends to work well however in hindsight I would probably be better suited to combining the Medium and Dark shades.
In terms of the texture and consistency, in my opinion the products appears to be a little to thick making the blend-ability a bit of an issue for me and this was especially relevant when I was trying to create a full coverage look with the product.I found using my fingers to be most effective but if you're more inclined to using brushes and sponges you may find the product too sticky and thick. I'm personally more comfortable using a stippling brush for any liquid based make up so while using the Be Beautiful Blemish Balm I found it more useful to apply some E.L.F. Make-Up Mist and Set Spray - that way it adds moisture to the brush for easier application and a slightly dewy effect.
My favourite thing about the product has to the matte finish and it's surprising that it wasn't even mentioned but being an Oil-Free product it's kind of obvious right? As with many of the Sleekp MakeUP products the Be Beautiful Blemish Balm also contains SPF15 which is always a bonus. I definitely prefer using product for my more natural looks and I'll probably be purchasing the Dark shade too but I doubt that I'll be using it as a full coverage base any time soon.
Overall Verdict: Good product for a evened out natural look with reasonable staying power if accompanied with setting powder.
